A bit of background

So, I know lots and lots of you have memorized my website address by now. And I'm sure, as a result of that, many of you are wondering "Stephen's Boy? or Stephen Sboy? Who is this guy??" Well, contemplate no more. It is actually "Stephen S. Boy", a title bestowed upon me by my dad. You see, back in the day (in a galaxy far, far away), i.e. middle school in Tabernacle, NJ, all of our papers and school projects had to have our first name and atleast the first letter of the last name. Thus, Stephen StXX= Stephen S. This became my handle for everything I did- swimming gear and baseball gloves were all marked (by the Dad himself) "Stephen S." And so, "Stephen S. Boy" was born. I remember calling my Dad before bed and as soon as he recognized it was me he would say, "Stephen S. Boy!"; it still (happily) continues to this day. And there, dear readers, is one more of life's mysteries solved.

Some people...

A long day it has been. If the rest of 2006 is anything like the first month, I don't think I'll survive this year; if you really are interested, I will explain, but otherwise, I'll spare the painful details. At any rate, this just depressed me further. This morning, after ROTC, while I was waiting in line at McDonald's drive-thru, I had the radio on listening to a local morning radio show. The typical discussions and humor were in full swing, along with trival bits of news. One issue that was metioned was that of a rapper (to be honest, I don't even remember his name- no loss there) who was drawing some flak from religious groups. Why? Because on the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone (?--something of the like) he is pictured as Jesus nailed to the cross, wearing a crown of thorns.
The rapper was outraged at the controversy and had justification for the photo (get ready for this..) "Because I have a lot in common with Jesus- he had to keep shouting for people to listen to him and, like him, I have had to make sacrifices for my career, just like him" (not exact quotes, but darn close).
?????????? SACRIFICES? I'm sure Mr. Rapper has made all kinds of sacrifices throughout his career (must be the same ones as Terrell Owens). And I'm sure the rapper would readily give his life for unknown strangers. However, it seems to me that the Son of God and Rapper Anonymous have a slight difference in motivation. Disgusting.

And so it begins....

So, I find myself plunged into the depths of cyberspace like never before. And who, might you ask, is responsible for said development? None other than my Big Sis, Kelli. She started her blog sometime ago, and I became interested. I even went so far as to sign up on BlogSpot, yet never made the step to actually using it. Hmmm, not much of a step then. I always justified my lack of postings by the simple notion that I did not want to have my first publication on the Internet be a negative one. So over Christmas, Kelli convinced me to make one positive post, and then I was free to be as negative as I chose. So here it is, my one and only happy post. Just kidding. I have been intimidated by blogs, as I feel like if I don't post everyday or so, it may be forgotten; throwing caution to the wind, I concluded there are no laws governing my Blog, so I can post whenever I want. Eureka! Freedom to post my thoughts only when in the mood?! Life is good! So, for better or worse, I embark on a journey on the information super highway (some cheesiness, however, is a law for first posts). So stay posted. I may not post everyday, but I can assure you, I am still around, thinking of my next "consideration, contemplation, or curiousity". Fare thee well.
